We understand that identity verification is a sensitive process, and your privacy and security are extremely important to us. This article outlines what information is stored, who has access, and the best practices you should follow after completing ID verification.
Who handles your information?
We use a tool managed by Stripe to process all the information that you submit. Stripe is PCI-compliant, meaning your data is encrypted and handled with the highest standards of security.
- We limit the access to this information to 3 core members of our team.
- In most cases, we never see your ID photos directly. Stripe handles the review automatically.
- Photos and documents are never downloaded or stored on our systems or devices — they remain securely within Stripe’s infrastructure.
- Data retention is short-term, and Stripe does not store documents indefinitely
Best practices after completing verification
Even with secure systems in place, it’s important for you to take action to protect your own data, especially if you took photos or scanned documents using your personal devices.
After uploading ID photos:
Ensure any photos that were saved to your device are deleted from your phone or computer.
Empty the trash/recycle bin on your device to ensure it’s fully removed.
Delete it from cloud backups (e.g., iCloud, Google Photos, OneDrive) if it was automatically uploaded.
Avoid saving these photos in shared folders or syncing them across devices.
Device Safety:
Only use trusted devices for your verification submission. Avoid using shared, borrowed, or public computers and phones.
Keep your device secure with updated antivirus software and strong passwords.
Monitor your cloud storage and Apple/Google account activity for signs of unauthorized access.
If You Suspect a Breach:
Most identity-related breaches occur due to insecure personal devices. If you believe your ID photo has been accessed without your permission:
Check your Apple ID or Google account activity.
Review any devices connected to your cloud storage.
Immediately delete any remaining ID images from all locations.
